Mother of a Prodigal - Now Returned

Blog with Tami as she shares her heart and life experiences in mothering a prodigal - now returned. She knows firsthand the brokenness and oftentimes sheer panic of watching her precious child make choices leading to destruction and defeat. She also knows the joy of seeing the prodigal return and find new life and victory. Share in the lessons learned along the road to victory.

Tami has been leading ladies’ in Bible study for over twenty years and is trained as a Precept Bible Study leader.  She is currently serving as Women’s Ministry Director at Life Community Church in Jamestown, NC where she and her husband, Darin, co-teach the MarriedLIFE Sunday School Class, a class full of young moms and dads.

They’ve been involved in couple’s ministry for most of their married lives and are founders of Happily Ever After, a ministry dedicated to training and teaching couples God’s plan for marriage. Humor is definitely a factor in their own marriage. When asked how long they’ve been married, Darin’s typical response is, 10 wonderful years - 24 total!”

Tami’s primary passion in life is to know God and encourage other women to pursue a relationship with Him through His Word.  She has experienced God’s faithfulness in the healing of a broken marriage and the return of a prodigal son.  Tami is willing and available to God to minister to women out of her own experiences as a wife, as a mother, as a mentor, as a friend.

Tami serves on the Board of Directors for Zookeeper’s Ministries.

Taming the Organizational Zoo!

Blog with Ann as she shares her greatest secrets of a taming the Zoo! A gifted organizer and planner, Ann has an inborn knack for simplifying the complicated and minimizing the clutter of life. With four children and a husband, she has the experience to go with her gift!  Let her help you organize your life as a Zookeeper through organizational and homemaking skills.

Anne married her husband Dan in 1985 and by 1992, she was the mother of four children under the age of five years old.  Talk about a zoo!!!!  Looking back, she recalls that those were some of the sweetest days of her life.  Being able to be a stay-at-home mom for nearly 22 years has been such a blessing from the Lord.

She sees the need of God calling the wife and mother to be the “keeper of the home” and realizes the importance of this role.  She has a passion for young mothers, and has ministered to young pregnant unwed girls though the Crisis Pregnancy center as a peer counselor.

Anne is currently a mentor to young moms at her local church, and is involved in the Ladies Ministry Team.

Her gift is organization and “passing on” things not used, making for a home simplified and organized.  She has been accused of being a minimalist who is amusing in a time when everyone seems to think they need so much stuff.  She is amused that the accumulation of possessions is such a focus in society today that we end up renting storage units to keep it all!  Anne holds the belief that God blesses us with possessions to either use or give away to someone in need. I Corinthians 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

Handling the Zoo of Homeschooling Eight Children

Blog with Julie Kornegay on the joys of homeschooling. Twenty-three years and counting, Julie has homeschooled her children and experienced all the joys and struggles that come with the challenge. She has persevered long enough to see the victory and fruits of her labors and cheerfully shares what she has learned with the next generation.

Julie is married to John, her husband of 31 years.  She lives in Pleasant Garden, NC in John’s family’s home place which they have been restoring for 25 years.  While working on this home, a building of character, God has been building character in her and in their 8 children.  Julie started homeschooling in 1986 when her oldest daughter was 5.  After experiencing the blessing of a more simplistic home based life, she has continued on with the homeschooling adventure for 23 years.  Julie has a passion for encouraging other young moms to enjoy those precious years with their young children by making their homes a place of learning, fun, adventure, and rest.  Romans 12 verses 1 and 2 have been the backbone of her life as she has endeavored to present herself as “a living sacrifice to God…not conforming to the world but being transformed by the renewing of her mind…”

Julie and John have been active in their church, The Fellowship, for 18 years and have enjoyed working with young couples to strengthen their marriages.  Supporting her husband as he built his own law practice, teaching and caring for her children (and 1st grandchild!), restoring the old home place, and keeping it running smoothly have been Julie’s calling for many years. Her calling has not always been easy, nor is it near perfection, but Julie is confident that “he who began a good work will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil.1:6)
